Matlock Farm Park
There is plenty to do for children, with lots of animals to see and feed, as well as smaller cuddly animals to pet in our barn. Learn more about our meerkats through our daily talks, short pony rides are on most days and you can have a free bet on our ferret races! We have a variety of play equipment, go-carts, a lovely café and a shop to browse. We also have a riding school and trekking centre, offering riding to all abilities.

The current Hall can trace its roots back to the 1400's when it boasted an estate of 3,700 acres, some of which now stands under the Carsington Reservoir. Since 1996, Spencer has gradually cleared and restored the woodland and its walks. This has produced wonderful displays of Snowdrops and Aconites.

Perched on a ridge high above the Vale of Scarsdale, on the site of a medieval fortress, Bolsover Castle is an extraordinary 17th-century aristocratic retreat and runs events for all the family to enjoy at weekends and during school holidays.

Since first opening its gates to visitors in 1780's the Heights of Abraham has become one of the Peak District's most popular destinations. In 1984 Britain's first alpine style cable car transport system was installed. Rising from the valley floor, the observation cars transport you in comfort and safety and allow stunning views of the Derwent Valley and surrounding Peak District. Once at the top explore the caves, visit the exhibitions, enjoy a fantastic meal and have fun in the adventure playgrounds.

Ashbourne Royal Shrovetide Football is a game played in the Derbyshire town of Ashbourne on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. Unlike a conventional football match the game is played over two eight hour periods with goals are 3 miles apart!

On Easter Sunday, the annual Duck Race and family fun day takes place at Dovedale stepping stones. You can purchase racing ducks on the day for a £1 donation.

The Bakewell Food Festival is once more celebrating the wealth of excellent local produce that the Peak District and this beautiful market town have to offer. As well as the multi-award winning farmers market, the town’s historic streets will host more than their usual splendid offerings of food fayre and Great British Bake Off's 'Star Baker', Howard Middleton will be doing cookery demonstartions.

Fancy a go at Clay shooting whilst on Holiday? Just 5 miles from Darwin Forest is Joe Nevillle's Shooting Ground, coach to the Great Britain Shooting team. The shooting ground caters for individuals and groups. Please ask reception for details and make sure you book in advance.
