Peak Rail - Saturday & Sunday

Matlock or Rowsley Station

Peak Rail welcomes you to journey back to a bygone age and experience the thrill of steam and diesel on our preserved railway, operating between Rowsley South and Matlock Platform 2 for a distance of 4 miles and open to the public throughout the year. Open for half term: 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25 February and weekends throughout the year.

Matlock Bath Illuminations and Fireworks

8th September 2018 – 28th October 2018

Matlock Bath

The 2018 Illuminations season will run from Saturday 8 September to Sunday 28 October. Fireworks displays will take place on Saturday evenings at 9pm.  Matlock Bath Illuminations feature a unique parade of illuminated and decorated boats on the River Derwent every weekend throughout September and October. Each boat carries a decorated model and as darkness falls the boats disappear into the blackness below, leaving the models apparently gliding along just above the water.

Halloween tours

Haddon Hall

The evening Halloween Tours at Haddon Hall focus on the unusual and fascinating Apotropaic Marks, sometimes called Witch Marks, which can be found around the masonry and woodwork of the Hall, and discuss their origins, purpose and the motivation of the unknown individuals who left their mark on the fabric of the building.  Step back in time to understand something of the lives of our ancestors.  Tours take place at 6pm on 25th, 29th, 30th and 31st October and will begin with a welcoming Halloween Cocktail and sweet treat.  Places are limited and booking is essential.

During the Winter Artisan Market a selection of the wonderful rooms of Haddon Hall will play host to a range of artisans and makers selling their individual wares, including jewellery, textiles, wood and ceramics, and of course, a variety of food produce too.  The fires will be crackling, the candles will be glowing and over the four days you will have the chance to shop the very individual selection of produce and artefacts on offer.
